Sauveterre-de-Rouergue is one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Come and discover its Bastide and the various activities, which will have their effects by the beauty of the setting in which they take place.

Naucelle

Located 11km from the cottage.
A pretty little town where it is good to walk.
On Saturday morning a market with very good producers awaits you.
I recommend a visit to its recently restored cathedral, which is worth a visit.

Belcastel

Located 24km from the cottage
Belcastel is also one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Its medieval castle overlooking the village can be visited and offers various exhibitions: Belcastel Castle
Several activities are offered depending on the period, to be discovered on the website of the Town Hall or the Tourist Office.
You can also just walk around and enjoy this exceptional setting.

Rodez

Located 32km from the cottage.
The capital of the Aveyron department, you will not be disappointed to plan a visit during your stay.
How not to go and see its imposing Gothic cathedral, which is one of the largest in the south of France.
What can we say about the Soulages Museum, except that you have to go there! 1700 m2 dedicated to the various works and works of the painter and engraver Pierre Soulages.
In another universe, the Fenaille Museum, museum of archaeology and history of Rouergue, is also worth a visit.

Villefranche de Rouergue

Located 38km from the cottage.
Go for a walk in the maze of narrow streets of the bastide to discover the houses and mansions. Your path will inevitably lead you back to the Place Notre Dame, the heart of the city.
The recently renovated square is bordered by the characteristic fortified roofs and the oversized porch of the collegiate church.
Plan to go on a Thursday morning or Saturday morning to enjoy the market rich in the smell and color of the land.

Cascade of Salles la Source

Located 44km from the cottage
A little corner of freshness in the heart of the pretty village of Salles-la-Source.
Clinging to the cliff on 3 floors, the village nestles on the foothills of the Causse Comtal.
This waterfall is definitely worth a visit and is worth stopping for a few moments.
You can then walk on the heights of this village to see and visit the Romanesque church of the twelfth century, the house of traditional arts and crafts of Rouergue or the house of artists trames d'arts.

7km to the north you can meet local wine producers that I recommend, in Marcillac-vallon.

Marcillac 1 is a French red or rosé wine with an appellation d'origine contrôlée produced in the vineyards of southwestern  France, around Marcillac-Vallon in the Aveyron.

Pareloup Lake

Located 48km from the cottage
Lake Pareloup is the 5th largest artificial water reservoir in France and the 2nd largest in the south of France.
The banks are indented and extend over 130 km.
The lake has been developed to accommodate the increasing number of tourists.
The roads that run more or less along the shores serve 2 public beaches, 3 ports, campsites and nautical centers. Although some public beaches are supervised by lifeguards

Najac

Located 50km from the cottage.
Classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, this medieval village is perched on a rocky ridge of exceptional length and stretches along a single street.
At the very end you can visit the imposing fortified castle.
At the bottom flow the meanders of the Aveyron river where you can enjoy multiple water activities or simply swim.

Canyon de Bozouls

Located 54km from the cottage
The Bozouls canyon is an extraordinary geological curiosity of impressive dimensions: 400m in diameter and 100m deep.
Classified as a Sensitive Natural Area, the canyon is home to natural habitats, remarkable fauna and flora. By taking the paths, you will be able to discover all this richness, sometimes hidden, guided by educational panels. These paths with wooden footbridges allow you to cross the Dourdou in all seasons and offer very nice views of the Gorges du Dourdou.

Albi

Located 56km from the cottage.
Albi is best known for its cathedral, the largest in the world, made of brick. And the first painted cathedral in Europe with its 18500 m2 of frescoes and decorations.
But the city is full of treasures and beautiful places to discover.
The Toulouse-Lautrec Museum is the largest public collection in the world dedicated  to the famous painter born in Albi.
Whether in its historic center, along the Tarn, or even on the Tarn, you will be amazed.
